This was taken at Kelly tartons in Auckland, New Zealand. A really cool Underwater aquarium. This is how the pictures come out on the small G11. Usually for a successful shot you need a really high quality camera. - Shot this on M.

Not sure what kinda fish this is so if you know please tell and i will add it here.

Comments and critiques welcome as I am only new to photography

Please Favorite if you like this piece and follow me if you would like to see more similar works.

Very pretty fish! This photo is balanced.

"Small G11" ... It's a hulking BEAST compared to most point & shoot cameras these days! But it is probably the BEST P&S available. My G10 went everywhere with me in NZ. It's an amazing camera for it's size, though.

yes, yes it is.

Actually, The camera is only good as you are... No point having an even better camera if you don't know how to use it.

Exactly!

But then again, a good camera can help you get better. You can race in a Ford Pinto good, but you'll do better in a Porsche!

just make sure no one crashes into the back of you with the ford pinto, because if they do it will blow up and you will burn to death :P

Nice shot. I wouldn't say that it's true that you need a high quality camera for great shots though. The camera doesn't make the photographer. Rather, it's the eye of the photographer and how they control their tools. I only recently upgraded my camera, but that doesn't mean my shots are better now. I'm still happy with a lot of the shots I take on my old compact digital from about 5 years ago.

You'll find that as you get used to the camera you'll get much better control over it.

Keep up the nice work!
